SEEN ON
It Started with a Craving. It Became a Bakery.
What started as a small farmers market pop-up, inspired by my love for Lisbon and its iconic Pastéis de Nata, has grown into something I once only dreamed of — a bakery with a permanent home in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
Lisbonata began with a simple craving. I was searching for that feeling of biting into a freshly baked pastel in Lisbon, right here in New York. When I couldn’t find it, I decided to make it myself. After months of testing, tweaking, and learning the craft, I created my own version — flaky layers made with real butter and a rich, creamy custard. I began baking in a shared kitchen and selling at farmers markets, not knowing what to expect. The response was incredible. People kept coming back, and over time, a small tart turned into a real community.
Today, Lisbonata finally has a place to call home. Every tart is still made by hand, with the same care and attention that started it all. Whether you stop by our Crown Heights shop or enjoy a box delivered to your door, I hope each bite brings you a little closer to the feeling that inspired it.
From Scratch, Always
At Lisbonata, everything begins with our hands—and a deep respect for craft. Each Pastel de Nata is rolled, folded, and baked from scratch in our Crown Heights location, using only real, high-quality ingredients: rich European butter, 100% yuzu juice, Belgian chocolate, housemade Pistachio cream and salted caramel, cage-free eggs, and more.
It’s a labor-intensive process—every pastry is shaped by hand, and the preparation takes several days from start to finish.
We don’t take shortcuts, because we believe you can taste the difference.
